SYN01: Synonyms & perfect word choice in the Quran
One of the many miraculous aspects of the Quran is the way it uses synonyms to match the context, subject matter and the overall surah themes .Discover how roots of words can give profound meanings of the Quran that are lost in English translations.This course will delve into the finer points of Classical Arabic grammar and will explain why the eloquence of the Qur’an is unprecedented and unmatched.The subjects covered in the course will be related predominately to rhetoric and a basic understanding of Arabic will be highly recommended.
COURSE LESSONS
Lesson 1 - We will explore the different roots طبع and ختم and see how they used in the Quran in a number of derived words. We will also explore their meanings related to the :sealing of the heart.
Lesson 2 - Difference words used for news / information: khabar (الخبر) and Naba (النَّبَأُ). Detailed discussion of ayah 66:3 and the usage of different verb forms ( أَنبأَ vs نبَّأَ ) form IV vs Form II.
Lesson 3 - Discussion on the different words used in the Quran for the sea/ocean ( البَحْر and اليَمّ)
Lesson 4 - We will explore 2 roots used to mean speed and quickness ( عجل and سرع). We will explore derived words from these root and how they are used in the Quran for extra meanings.
Lesson 5 - Discover is the difference between the words جَبَل and طُور used for mountain in the Quran.
Lesson 6 - Different words for "turning away" in the Quran.
Lesson 7 - Different words for Writing in the Quran.
Lesson 8 - We will examine the different words for stars مصباح , كوكب, نجم in the Quran.
Lesson 9 - We will examine the different words that mean a "path" or "road" such as صراط ,سبيل , , طريق , شارع. We will look at each of these words linguistically and the perfect word choice in the the Quran.
Lesson 10 - We will do an in-depth analysis of the many words used for forgiveness and sin in the Quran . Be amazed at how these words are used and the deep and profound meanings associated with Arabic roots. We will explore numerous ayaat including those related to the Prophets of Allah (SWT).

Lesson 12 - Different Words for Peace / PODCAST: Enter into SILM, What does it mean ?
Lesson 13 - Different words for rain (المَطَر and الغَيث). How are these words used in the Quran to perfection.

All necessary Morphological, Grammatical and Balagha ( Rhetoric) discussions will be discussed when necessary. All Questions can be asked in classroom forums.
